TwitterHelp is an informative tutorial that helps users understand what was going on in my prototype. For my tutorial, I had to know and understand all the User Interface Design Principles. With the help of the design principle, I could use all of them in my prototypes. My prototype is a tutorial about how to protect your tweets and two-factor authentication on Twitter.
Design a tutorial that shows users how to use a website and follow design principles.
Updated my final project with the feedback I got from the professor and my classmate.
Creating a prototype and using the User Interface Design Principles to in my final project.
At the beginning of this course, we started by thinking of ideas for how we went how the final project to be. Then, we had to understand the design principle and then do a final project proposal write-up for the mean for the term and how they are going to be used in my design. I proposed a final project using the terms I learned in this course and learning about the laws and principles.
Definition:
The Miller’s Laws state that the average person can only keep 7 (plus or minus 2) items in their working memory(short-term memory).
How I implemented the principle:
I consider Miller’s Laws by having only 5 to 7 steps in my project.
Definition:
The Signaling Principle states that people learn best when they are shown exactly what to pay attention to on the screen so that they can understand the contents.
How I implemented the principle:
I applied the signaling principle by highlighting important words and using a line to point out significant information to show users so that they can better understand.
Definition:
The Hick’s Law states that the time it takes to decide increases with the number and complexity of choices.
How I Implemented the principle:
I consider Hick’s law by making sure that my final project has simple decisions for a user, because the more choices that I present a user with, the longer it takes them to decide.
Definition:
The Zeigarnik Effect is a psychological principle that states that people remember uncompleted or interrupted tasks better than completed tasks.
How I Implemented the principle:
I consider this by using progress bars to show the finished and uncompleted steps.
My prototype is a tutorial that teaches users how to protect their tweets and two-factor authentication on Twitter.
At the end of this project, I was able to understand and know how the User Interface Design Principles are used. I was able to create a prototype that shows users how to protect their tweets and two-factor authentication on Twitter. I made sure that my prototype was easy for a user to know how to navigate without me giving an introduction.
